Welcome to the APDRC

Welcome to the Asia Pacific Democracy Resource Center (APDRC), a new and unique information center for all those interested in democracy and human rights issues. While topics of global interest are addressed in the APDRC, such as the scores of elections taking place this year around the world, the APDRC, true to its name, hones in on issues particularly pertinent to Asia.

The APDRC brings together information and resources, much of which is exclusive to this Web site, on Asian democracy and human rights issues. Without aiming to campaign on any particular issue, and conceived as more than a list of external links or a collection of academic papers, the APDRC seeks to help the international community better understand how democracy and human rights fits into the Asian context. The APDRC especially hopes to serve as a helpful and vital resource for democracy and human rights practitioners and scholars specializing in the Asia-Pacific.

The APDRC has been created and is maintained by the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy (TFD), Asia’s first national democracy assistance foundation.
